About us

We are a group of third year students at the Department of Design Studies at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. We are working on various disabilities communication design projects. We are using this blog as a gallery and place for critique, and a way of connecting with other related kinds of projects, whether in NZ or elsewhere. Your comments are most welcome!

We’ve recently created some posters for the EIDD Design for All Europe competition. It gave us the challenge of coming up with memorable messages about the importance of an inclusive approach to design. Also it meant we could work on a large scale, and in lush colour.

In the first semester we were working on two projects. The first was illustration and idea generation for Disabilities Services and Support at Otago University. The second was research and design development for a brain injury handbook for Burwood Academy of Independent Living in Christchurch.

Big thanks to staff Andrew Wallace and Nick Laird for helping set up the projects, and to our two client contacts in semester one: Donna-Rose McKay at Disabilities Services and Support, and Julian Verkaaik at Burwood.
